Discovering Equine Massage: Between Scenic Paths and Equine Connection in Essaouira

In partnership with Audrey POURROY (Aldériade company), we are pleased to organize an introductory training in equine massage therapy.

Besides having been a horsewoman since childhood, Audrey has trained in equine massage therapy and specializes in locomotion, enabling her to work on both energies and physical well-being. Indeed, one cannot exist without the other, and one acts on the other. Audrey is constantly seeking to improve her understanding of horses and their well-being. In her opinion, there’s still a long way to go, but that’s precisely what she finds fascinating!

Equine massage therapy helps horses to recover and heal from musculoskeletal injuries, and can help them to regain balance, flexibility and performance, thereby improving their well-being.

The aims of this introduction training will be to help you to better understand and relax horses through massage, and to improve your relationship with horses through the energetic aspect in various workshops.

These workshops will be followed by a horse trail ride of 3 days with 2 nights in camp, during which you will continue to exchange with Audrey and ask her any questions you may have, while discovering the Essaouira region on horseback.

This introduction to massage therapy is open to anyone wishing to learn how to better interact with horses and bring them muscular relaxation and physical well-being. No prerequisites are necessary.

Currently, only one date is proposed: from November 16 to 23, 2025.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us or to contact Audrey directly on Instagram: @alderiade or on Facebook : @Aldériade!

  • Day 2

Meeting at 10 am at the riad entrance and transfer to our stables. After introducing yourselves, Audrey will explain you the different workshops. The morning will then be dedicated to a first theoretical session on equine energetics and massage therapy, lasting around 2 hours. Lunch break at the stables. In the afternoon, a new session, also lasting around 2 hours, will allow you to see the practical application of what you've learned in the morning. To end the day on a high note, you'll then enjoy a 2-hour horseback ride along the beach at sunset. Transfer and overnight at the riad. Dinner on your own.

  • Day 3

Meeting at 10 am at the riad entrance and transfer to our stables. The morning will focus on connecting, understanding and communicating with horses through various exercises (session lasting around 2 hours). Lunch break at the stables. In the afternoon, you'll be able to put into practice what you've learned in the morning. You'll then join a 2-hour horseback ride along the beach at sunset to end the day perfectly. Transfer and overnight at the riad. Dinner on your own.

  • Day 4

Meeting at 9.45 am at the riad and transfer to the stables for the trail ride departure. You will first ride along a river or oued to reach the village of El Ghazoua that we will cross. Then you will travel through the Moroccan countryside passing on small paths and crossing argan tree forests on your way. Lunch is prepared by our cook and served in a field. After some rest, you will go back in the saddle and take the direction Argana where is located our first camp. You will cross several traditional Berber villages. Visit of a women's cooperative of argan oil and tasting of local products (oil, honey and amlou). You will spend the night surrounded by argan trees. Night in tent.

  • Day 5

Through the countryside, you will continue the trail across small Berber villages, valleys and fields. The ground is full of beautiful colors in this area. You will have lunch near a place called "The Source" where the horses can drink. The afternoon will show you other Berber villages but the ground is now changing and becomes more sandy as you have taken the direction of the ocean and cascades of Sidi Embark. The view of the sea between the dunes is magnificent. You will then arrive on the beach and enjoy galloping. The views will mix cliffs and beaches and you will finally arrive in late afternoon at the camp located in Sidi Kaouki. Night in tent.

  • Day 6

After a generous breakfast taken in front of the ocean, you will go back in the saddle and ride along the beach towards Essaouira. In the second part of Sidi Kaouki, you will see the Marabout. You will then cross huge sand dunes that are unique to the region, enjoying at the same time some gallops. You will cross a small fishing village and then take the direction of a small Berber village on a cliff facing the Atlantic. After a picnic in a small creek where you can swim, you will go towards the lighthouse of Cap Sim. Then, you will take a small sandy path and go down the dunes. You will have the feeling to be in the desert but the sea is just behind them. You will see some very small fishing villages on the beach side. After some gallops on the beach, you will enter in the forest of eucalyptus and mimosas located between the beach and Diabat. Arrival at the stables in late afternoon. Transfer and overnight at the riad. Dinner on your own.

  • Day 7

Meeting at 10 am at the riad entrance and transfer to our stables. The day will focus on applying the basics acquired since your arrival: horse anatomy and a few notions of biomechanics to work on relaxing the horse's muscles through massages. It will also be interesting to look at their posture and locomotion, which we will have already observed before starting the trail, and note any differences after these 3 days. Lunch at the stables. Transfer and overnight at the riad. Free time in the late afternoon. Dinner on your own.

  • Day 8

Transfer to Essaouira (20 min) or Marrakech (3h) airport, depending on your flight schedule.
